World Book Fair 2018 Swamped with Readers

@WorldBookFair 2018 is on at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. Organised by #nationalbooktrustindia &ITPO (Indian Trade Promotion Organization), the event is supported by #ministryofhumanresourceand development, MyGov India. #mediapartners are#allindiaradio DMRC (Delhi Metro Railway Corporation) and Doordarshan National (DD1). Started on January 06, 2018, the fair is on until January 14 during 11am-8pm IST. #europeanunionis the #guestofhonor . #climatechange and #environmentconservation is the theme. #uae ,Egypt , Iran , Nepal , Spain , Sweden , France ,Germany are some key international participants with #book in their respective languages. India of course spanned through several halls with books from every possible niche. Oldies are mostly available for around ₹150 each, which we did not find too tempting a deal. However, we could hit upon a couple of good bargain stores like 3 for ₹100; buy 2 get 1 free, but 1 get 2 free type. Fresh#originalbooks are available from#internationalpublishers but quite steep in pricing.Diamond Comics was conspicuously absent. However, original Calvin and Hobbes, Asterix and Obelix, Garfield, etc. fascinated the adults who grew up reading these. A couple of halls are dedicated to books in #indianlanguages Including #hindi . For kids until standard 5, lot of learning tools & books are also available. Students can dig into a huge collection on offer. We were looking for stationery but could not find any stall. Cash is the universal payment mode. Paytm is also accepted at most shops. Card facility is limited. Overall, good fair if you are mad about books and have decent dispensable cash. Take kids along.
